‘Adventure with the Windmills’, by Gustave Doré in Miguel der Cervantes, L’ingénieux Hidalgo Don Quichotte de la Manche (1863) Part I, Chapter 8 – Public Domain. The brave charge of the noble Lords Dissident against the FAANGs on the social media battlefield.

Why If there is one form of contemporary ‘freedom of expression’ I especially distrust, it is mass access to and participation in the ‘social media’ digisphere. By extending ‘equal opportunity’ to express ideas, opinions and sentiments to all ‘modern citizenry’, by ‘levelling the playing field’ for all and sundry to ‘participate’ in public life and by ‘giving voice’ to supposedly‘excluded’ and ‘disadvantaged’ strata of society, social media have effectively voided the value of any ‘freedom of expression’, rendered meaningless any‘public debate’ and allowed society’s lowest common denominator of thinking, interacting and behaving to be set as the standard of social interaction. If anything has been demonstrated by decades of hyper-democracy, mass-communication and 24-hour news cycling, set according to that standard, it is the sad truth -recognized and acted upon by all cultures and societies except those of the‘Modern West’ – that large majority of people simply fails to meet the minimum requirements of cognitive capacity, be havioural etiquette and personal integrity to meaningfully participate in public debate, let alone political decision-making. Over these last ‘post-modern’ decades, the West has seen a gradual reversal in its previously successful (collective) socio-cultural project of allowing (individual) people to rise to the dignity of true humanity, a.k.a. civilization, now resulting in a de facto fall into a collective state of malignant narcissism – this fall is intensified and accelerated by the social media.
Froma Traditionalist perspective, any individual attempt to halt or even slow down this fall is not only entirely futile but essentially counter-productive -Baron Evola suggested ‘riding the tiger’ instead: the beast of Dark Age Modernity must run its course and it will eventually run out of momentum of its own accord. In that spirit, my Blog will jump on and hold onto the social media beast, adding, at least for a little while, just a tiny bit to the combined weight of those many other online dissidents and keyboard warriors who are gradually wearing it down until, one glorious day, it drops dead. The exhaustion of the social media beast has already been amply illustrated by the manner in which its controllers have been forced to intensively police it for‘though crimes’, repeatedly purge it through ‘de platform’ it and even preventively legislate it to the point of creating a hollow echo chamber tha tis so bland in its messages that all but the boomers, the bots and the braindead are escaping into the dissident alternative space – including back out into off-line reality. Thus, this Blog seeks to do its modest part in the larger common struggle of all anti-globalist and anti-nihilist dissidents to,even if ever so slightly and ever so slowly, re-shape, re-direct and re-purpose the social media ‘blob’. By, occasionally inserting some pin-prick into some bubble, bluntly affirming some inconvenient truth about some uncomfortable issue and, perhaps and hopefully, leading some despairing soul back to some degree of sanity, this Blog wishes to contribute to that common effort – and tomiti gate the dark madness of the social media world.

Who My Blog is meant to create a small dot of light in the stygian blackness of one of the lower circles of the hell that is the contemporary social media sphere, a smoke-and-mirrors place originally shaped by mercenary ‘50-cent internet armies’ pushing whatever narrative suits the FAANGs on behalf of the Big Brother-Big Banking-Big Pharma-Big Zion blob and co-inhabited by hordes of mentally deranged cyber-stalkers, but now taking on an ever-more ‘unreal’ outlook as it becomes increasingly dominated by ‘woke’-programmed AI bots. These forces aim at obscuring and extinguishing any real human presence to the extent that it does not conform to the overall agenda of those who now control the social media sphere, which is to impose techno-totalitarian surveillance, implement usury-based neo-feudalism and prepare the way for trans-humanist supersession. In that sense, the final outcome of the ridiculously unequal struggle between the almighty social media controllers and the atomized social media dissidents, which is the total defeat of the latter, is a foregone conclusion: I do not have any illusion to the contrary – but that does not mean the fight should not be fought. A maximum collective effort by social dissenters to hold back the tide may – at least for a little while – delay the final victory of the techno-totalitarians, shielding from total usurpation items of news, knowledge and insight – these may yet reach many, find their way into new safe spaces and ultimately serve to bring down the whole techno-totalitarian project.
With this functionality in mind, I will ignore all obvious bad-faith responses and retorts to my postings and comments on any social media, and I will block them from this Blog space. My time is precious: I will not waste it on negatively-directed communication loops, energy-draining attention distractions and schoolyard-level word competitions. That said, I will try to give some time and thought to sincerely directed questions and solidly grounded critiques. One thing that I find invariably helpful to distinguish between what may be worthy of attention, and what is definitely not, is simple, old-fashioned politeness- but to try to convince individual members of the moronic masses in that regard is as foolish as battling windmills.
It is a wise thing to be polite. Consequently, it is a stupid thing to be rude. To make enemies by unnecessary and wilful incivility,is just as insane a proceeding as to set your own house on fire. For politenessis like counterfeit money, an avowedly false coin, with which it is foolish to be stingy. – Arthur Schopenhauer

How This Blog will have four categories of items – they are listed below. On this Blog, each of my social media postings will be categorized accordingly for the benefit of readers interested in one category or the other. The first two categories, covering new materials and new podcasts I publish, are basically notifications to be posted whenever applicable – the only regular publication commitment I have is that to the twice monthly Dutch-language Sisyphus Radio panel. The last two categories, covering third-party materials I find worth sharing and public affairs comments I find worth making, will be made on an ad hoc basis – but I will make an effort to check back on this Blog at least once a week, to post something new and give responses and reactions where applicable.

(1)Publications: notifications of new books, essays and articles
(2)Media: notifications of new interviews, reviews and panel conversations
(3)Recommended: recommended books, websites and music
(4)Comments: responses to particularly outrageous events, ideas and persons
